Are you prepared for your journey into Eternity?
"Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." (James 4:14)
"We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace." (I Chronicles 29:15)
And how must it feel, at that moment beyond time, in a place beyond imagining, to learn for oneself the irrevocable verdict of Eternity!
We all die! Compared to eternity, our life here on earth is very short. What happens to us after we leave this Earth is what should concern us the most. SO READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY; IT CONCERNS YOUR FUTURE LIFE GOING INTO ETERNITY!
Eternity goes on forever–and ever–and ever. Eternity has no beginning and no end. It always was and always will be. And as the Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27, “It is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment.” This means that we are all going to die; and then we will be judged. This judgment will determine our eternal destination; there are 2 choices: Heaven or Hell!
If you never have–and are not now willing to accept Jesus Christ into your heart and life as your Lord and Savior, then He will honor your decision. However, that being the case, God will not allow you into His Heaven. Instead, your destination will be Hell! Think of the worst pain and suffering that you’ve ever experienced–it will be nothing compared to the pain and suffering that you’ll experience in Hell. And it will never end! It will go on–and on–and on throughout all eternity–with no hope of it ever changing.
But then there is Good News. Anyone Who Wishes Can Go To Heaven! All you have to do is to believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him into your heart and life as your Lord and Savior. Once you make that heartfelt decision, you will be Heaven-bound; you’ll be under God’s care–and nothing can or will pluck you out of His hand. (John 10:27,28)
It’s simple; let me explain. To begin with, God created us so that we could know Him, love Him, and have an abundant and eternal life with Him. But because of the sin of Adam and Eve, we are now ALL born into sin. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men,for all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12) To sin means that we have missed the mark–we have failed to meet God’s standard of perfection.
Since God is a holy God–set apart, pure and perfect, we have lost our fellowship with Him and are separated from Him. Our relationship with Him is dead. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23) Because of our sin, we deserve this death—or separation from Him.
But God is a god of love who desired that we spend eternity with Him. He is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9) Therefore He had a plan–that being that He would send his only son, Jesus Christ, to come in our place and take our sins away by His sacrifice on the cross. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Christ bore all our sins–past, present, and future–on the cross so that we might have an eternal life with Him. He offered this redemption, or salvation, to us as a free gift–even though we did nothing to deserve it–nor could we ever do anything to earn it.
“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God - not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9) Salvation (i.e. eternity spent in Heaven) is a free gift! All we need to do is accept it!!
You ask, “how do I accept this gift?” It’s simple. Just admit to God that you are a sinner–that you have spent your life apart from God’s perfect standards. And believe on Jesus Christ as the one who bore your sins on the cross, who died in your place, and was buried, and whom God resurrected. “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9,10) Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith in Jesus. Bring Jesus into your life; embrace Him as your Lord and Savior! Believe, and you will be saved! No church, no organization, no good works can save you. Only God does the saving. All of it!
From your heart, say this simple prayer:
“Oh God. I know that I’m a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross.
I believe that His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection was for me.
I now receive Him as my Lord and Savior.
I thank you for the forgiveness of my sins, and the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.”
It’s that simple! “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31) Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36) Trust God and stand on His promises! Once you’ve done that, communicate with Him by praying and reading His Word in the Bible. Then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay.
Don’t let anyone, or anything shake your faith. God is real! His word is true! “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6)
